In a recent YouTube vlog, Farah Khan, renowned for her directorial ventures and choreography, took viewers on a tour of Tanishaa Mukerji's unique home. The residence, owned by veteran actor Tanuja's daughter and sister of Kajol, exudes a blend of old Kolkata charm and Turkish-inspired aesthetics.
Farah's admiration for the house's vintage appeal was evident as she explored the spacious living area, adorned with heavy wooden furniture, antique lamps, and earthy beige-brown interiors. The bold red sofas added a pop of color to the room, creating a striking contrast.
As the tour progressed, Farah couldn't help but appreciate the elegant iron-and-wood staircase, suggesting a grand entrance with a gown. The antique-style round glass dining table also caught her eye, prompting a curious inquiry about family gatherings. Tanishaa confirmed that the house often hosted such events, revealing that several members of the Mukherjee family lived nearby, including filmmaker Ayan Mukerji and the sons of legendary actor Joy Mukherjee.
The conversation then turned to the family's prestigious lineage and the contribution of Tanishaa's grandfather, iconic filmmaker Sashadhar Mukherjee, to Indian cinema. Tanishaa expressed gratitude for their blessed and lucky heritage, mentioning an upcoming documentary on her grandfather by Deb Mukherjee.
Tanishaa shared that much of the furniture in her current home was brought from her previous family residence, explaining, "This is all my mum's furniture because my dad was not a very homely person." She also spoke about her move to the property around 14 years ago and how Bombay had changed with the emergence of the Sea Link.
The vlog then shifted to the kitchen, where Tanishaa revealed their switch to induction cooking to conserve LPG usage, in line with Prime Minister Modi's initiative. She even shared that she learned to make parathas during her time on Bigg Boss.
The tour continued to the massive terrace, adorned with plants, black outdoor seating, and cozy lounging spots. Farah was amazed by the size, exclaiming, "Itna bada terrace!" Tanishaa revealed that her mother often came up for a morning walk and that they enjoyed their chai and coffee there. A large single-seater chair, belonging to Tanishaa's father, was a highlight, with Tanishaa humorously noting that all the Mukerji brothers were extra large, fitting only on that chair.
Farah also admired the plants, many of which Tanishaa had grown herself. When asked about Kajol's contribution to the house setup, Tanishaa quipped, "She paid for it!" Farah laughed, agreeing that financial support was the best kind of contribution. Tanishaa added, "She signs the cheque books."
The vlog concluded with Farah gifting Tanishaa items from her brand collaborations, which Tanishaa planned to use in her new house construction.
This insightful vlog not only offered a glimpse into Tanishaa's unique home but also highlighted the importance of family, heritage, and the role of women in shaping their living spaces.
